#Twillies: Handle wraps for bag lovers

I DO LOVE BAGS, especially the big ones because I can stuff all of my things inside. However, unlike other bag lovers, I don't have those top-of-the-line collection of bags with prices that ranges from thousands and thousands of pesos (I think the most expensive bag which I bought only costs 2,000 php). Regardless of the brand, I'm always up to the functionality and durability of the bag. However, I always see to it that the design of each bag would easily match my clothes as well. 

But just recently, I found a lovely accessory that could spice up my bags while protecting them at the same time! I've been seeing these colorful twillies on Instagram. 

The main purpose of a twilly or handle wrap is to protect the handle of bags which are commonly damaged because they always come in contact with our hands. Look at your bags' handles! see? they are dirty and somewhat faded right? Aside from that, since our hands also produces acid mixed with sweat, it may cause corrosion on the covering of our bag's handles, especially for luxury bags---that's why we must protect them!

If you're worried on how to wrap the twilly, you can look for tutorials on YouTube, but since it's very easy, maybe you can follow my simple instructions below: 

STEP 1: Make a knot at one end of the handle. If your handle is short, you can even have a ribbon instead of a knot.

STEP 2: Wrap the twilly around the handle until it reach the other end, then tie a knot again (or a ribbon).

Voila! It's not my ordinary blue hand bag anymore!

I guess I'll be trying other designs next time---maybe twillies with classy patterns will look great on my formal hand bags :).

HAT FEVER!

ALRIGHT. I KNOW. THIS IS WAY TOO LATE. 

Is summer really over?! I guess some of you are still catching up with the summer fever, you know, late vacation dilemma... But I do hope this post will help you pull-off a great summer get-a-way look that is Instagram-worthy but budget-friendly. And oh! you can also sport these looks even after this season for sure. Hats are not that popular among us. Personal opinion, yes, because I don't get to see a lot of lass wearing hats, well except for boys---most prefer wearing caps. But seriously, don't we also need to protect our head? And of course aside from protection, it is indeed a good fashion accessory too! a pretty good investment. 

So now, I'll be showing you how I used two different hats to spice up my look :) Let's get started!

OFF-WHITE SUMMER HAT / SUN HAT

"Make hay while the sun shines!"

The photos below were taken during our company outing in Tagaytay, just this month :) 

I bought the hat at KULTURA (located inside SM stores) for only 199.00 php. And since I'm wearing a floral dress (first three pictures), I added a detail on my plain off-white sun hat (which originally was my sister's DIY floral headband). 

The next day, I just changed my outfit to a very refreshing combination of a white shirt and a chiffon balloon shorts---plus the sun hat of course!

The photos that you'll be seeing below were taken during my trip to Nuvali. It was a very hot sunny day. Good thing I have this wide brim hat to keep the sun rays away from my face and still keep me in-style.

There you go! Don't worry, there are a lot of colors and styles to choose from. Just visit your favorite shops and look for fashionable hats that will compliment your outfits. Invest on designs that can be repeatedly used anytime and anywhere. Remember: Always dare to be different---simple, classy-cute and unique.

HOLIKA HOLIKA Cover & Hiding stick concealer [Review]

I VISITED MY FAVORITE mall in Pasay because I ran out of some daily makeup and skincare products. I like their department store because it houses almost every makeup brands that I love and the shelves always offer something new to try. 

So I went on and grab some cotton pads, eyebrow pencil, moisturizer, toner...until I thought about my concealer tube that is almost empty. But when I reached the kiosk of Holika Holika, the saleslady told me that their liquid concealer is currently out-of-stock. *holy molly*

Alright. I think I've been to this kind of situation before. And so I looked for an alternative, I found one :) Here's a review of Holika Holika's Cover & Hiding Stick concealer, check it out!

The product comes in a plastic cylindrical container (4 inches long and more than half an inch wide), which has a rotating end (glides the concealer up and down). If extended, the stick concealer itself is less than 1 1/2 inches long. 

GOOD POINTS: Just like its liquid version, it covers the blemishes pretty well. But unlike the liquid concealer, this one is quite easier to handle and less creamy, that's why it's perfect for those with oily skin like me. It also smells nice and blends with the skin without causing that 'caking' appearance. And of course, it is very affordable :)

SEE those zits? I don't know where they came from? *crying*

NO FILTER used, just the CONCEALER :) Now that's the difference!

NOT-SO-GOOD-POINTS: I know this won't affect the effectivity of the product, but I would suggest that Holika Holika must improve their packaging, you know, to attract more buyers. Their packagings are always simple, unlike other Korean makeup products. Lastly, I hope they'll add more description on the container of the product (description, ingredients), just for reference.

MAYBELLINE BB Super Cover Mineral Guard Filter [Review]

BB creams truly changed the make-up industry and overthrown the intensive use of liquid foundation. The combination of lightweight and natural-looking coverage is the best attributes that make this wonder makeup a favorite among women. I can personally attest to the greatness of BB cream, not only as a makeup product, but most importantly as a skincare product as well.

I’m a user of BB creams from popular Korean brands, but then because of their pocket-eating capabilities (expensive indeed), I intended to search for a drugstore BB cream that is as effective but more affordable. So here’s a review of the latest BB cream product of a leading makeup brand :)

The product is contained inside a thick plastic tube that is 4 ½ inches long and 1 ½ inches wide (at the middle), in metallic rose gold color. It has a twistable cap which secures the nozzle of the tube. The opening of the tube is very tiny that it only allows small amount of product per squeeze.

GOOD POINTS: If you haven’t found the perfect BB cream yet, I guess this product is the best thing start with. Given a limited budget yet a pretty high standard in makeup, this product is a great deal for us ladies! It has the perfect coverage (though it became heavier than the previous BB cream of Maybelline), the best scent (smells fairly nice) and the best value (30 ml for 399 php). It has one of the highest SPF for BB cream, perfect even without your usual face sunblock---resulting to less layers on your face. It also hides the blemishes perfectly, that allows me to use fewer swipes of my concealer. Lastly, it makes the face glowing, improves skin tone and remains intact all throughout the day.

LET'S TRY the product on my hand with two noticeable blemishes and enlarged pores...

I PLACED A SMALL amount of  BB cream in the middle...

AFTER SPREADING EVENLY, you will notice that the blemishes are barely there. The tone of the skin even improved.

NOT-SO-GOOD POINTS: I can’t say much because I pretty much love it. But one downside is that it’s a bit thicker and heavier compared to other BB creams. So if you have a lot of blemishes, you’ll tend to apply more, and for sure you’ll feel uncomfortable after several hours. And one more thing, yes you can bare your face in public but you won’t achieve the “naked” look with this, because it’s pretty noticeable ('coz it's thick). But oh well, at least you look flawless :)

OVERALL, it is indeed my favorite BB cream today! I’ve already used it for two months now, just to be able to look closely on its effect on my skin. I don’t want to blog about it after the first use (even if I’m dying to do it). I hope my review is enough to help you whether to buy it or not. But for me, it’s worth a try :)

BACK TO BEAUTY BLOGGING AGAIN! The previous liquid concealer that I hooked up with for the last 6 months had run out, forcing me to buy another one. When I went to a mall in Pasay, the saleslady told me that what I was looking for was currently out-of-stock. *face palm* I peeked on other brands nearby with a bit of disgust because I would really love to stick with my previous.

But it was like a blessing in disguise because I found a nice product during my hunt ^_^

The product is contained inside a glass cylindrical tube, which is 4 inches long. The applicator has a spongy tip. The liquid concealer smells fairly nice and has a thick, creamy consistency.

GOOD POINTS: It is easy to apply and conceals the majority of my blemishes. It is cheaper yet as effective as compared with the other Korean brand concealers. It doesn’t slides off my skin after several hours. The best thing about this product: It fits my oily skin. This is what I fear about liquid concealers, they tend to wear off when mixed with sweat and sebum. But with this product, it amazingly adjusts to my skin and can hold on for several hours. 

NOT-SO-GOOD POINTS: I don’t have a lot of pimples and marks, but my major problem are dark under eye circles, and I think it’s not-so excellent in concealing my under eye dilemma. I guess it should be paired with an orange concealer for it to work well.

A GOOD INVESTMENT! It’s not only a concealer but a highlighter at the same time. You can place a few dots along your nose bridge and spread it lightly using your fingertips, instant tall nose it is!

Conceal only your blemishes but never hide the real you,

Camp N (Nuvali Eco Park)

THE SUN WAS SCORCHING HOT! We reached the place at around 1:00 pm via a Nuvali coaster. The fare was 20 php per person and the ride lasted for 10 to 15 minutes only---welcome to CAMP N! 

                  

The camp opened last April 16, 2016. By the looks of the site, it seems that earthlings haven’t exploited the place yet, haha! So we are among the first human beings to try the amenities and be challenged. What are we waiting for? Let’s get it on!

AT THE ENTRANCE, you'll see a vicinity map which will guide you on the locations of their amenities.

The vast area boasts different amenities that will test both your physical endurance and brave soul. So if you’re a daredevil or simply a thrill-seeker, the place will cater to your dauntless cravings. As for our case, we need something that would make our trip to Nuvali somewhat worthy, so we immediately embraced the challenges, not knowing that most are death-defying! yay! Well, the three things that I’m eyeing in this encounter are the following:

1. Nerve-racking challenges
2. Value for money
3. Accessibility

So as you go along this post, I’ll let you savor my insights regarding those three criteria to help you decide if the place is worthy to be visited soon :)

FIRST THINGS FIRST!

Oops! Before anything else, please be informed of the following: (You might get overjoyed with the stuff that you’ll be seeing later, for sure, but you must first know the rules)

Wear the proper attire

All of my friends are wearing shoes, while I'm wearing an open-toed footwear---great, brilliant me *sarcasm intended* Make sure that you'll come in complete gear: sporty clothes and rubber shoes are recommended. (refer to the photo below for complete list of requirements and guidelines)

TAKE NOTE of the following! 

Bring your own water and food

The food shop is still closed, I don't know when it will be fully-functional. So for you not to starve, it is advisable that you bring snacks with you, or just arrive there an hour after taking a sumptuous meal.  


Prepare your budget

The amenities can be a bit pricey, especially for students, so you must prepare 500 php to 1500 php, depending on the packages you want to try. Take note: A single ticket is good for single use only, no take two's! The cheapest 'challenge' can be tried at 60 php, the most expensive one is at 1000 php, plus the entrance fee of 80 php.

My guy friends availed Package F: Zip & Jump (450 php + 80 php entrance) and since the zipline long is not available that time, they replaced it with zipline short plus climbing wall for free, good deal huh? :) While for us girls, we just tried the zipline short (150 php + 80 php entrance).

And then off we go!...OH WAIT! by the way, we signed a waiver upon choosing the activities and before paying :) 


The climbing wall activity was a bit difficult because of the obstacle, my friends can't even make it halfway, hoho! 


The rappel wall challenge looks like the other rappelling activities I engaged with in past. 


The free fall dare is the scariest in my opinion. It may look simple but the feeling of climbing up the tower will add-up to the fear, which will eventually be magnified by standing at the edge and allowing yourself to fall from 65 feet above the ground. 


The zipline short is just more or less a 30-second ride around the area where the tower is rooted. But the crazy twist here is this: It is actually a roller coaster zipline! yes, with loops that will slam your body in the air! 

THE ADVENTURE TOWER houses the climbing wall, rappel wall, free fall and zipline (long and short) activities.

It took us roughly 3 1/2 hours to complete the challenges, of course with hesitations in between, haha! But at least it was all worth it. I even have plans to return and try the challenges I missed, and I'll make sure to come in complete gear.

Perfect for the brave souls and even for those who just want to conquer their fears. Moreover, reasonable prices for all the amenities, plus, all of their gears (harness, ropes and helmets) are in excellent condition. It is also very accessible, you just need to know how to get to Nuvali Eco Park (Read my blog post thru this link: A DAY IN NUVALI). Lastly, I think they have one of the kindest staffs / crews, very accommodating, you'll feel safe and secured.
