MAGINHAWA STREET: The Ultimate Food Trip (Day 2)

LET'S CONTINUE  the food quest!

The following morning, we checked-out at Yuj Inn transient hostel by 10 am and continued our food battle.

Our first stop, MIXX VIGAN'S BEST

Home of the BEST bulalo in Maginhawa St. :)

This food stop is famous among bloggers because of their bulalo that is so delicious, yet very cheap. So now, we'll see if that's really true.

Meanwhile, we ordered some rice meals 'coz we're so dead hungry. Here are some of the foods we ordered, price ranges from P 60.00 to P 110.00.

LONGSILOG

DAINGSILOG

HAMSILOG

BANGSILOG

And now for the main event!

The bulalo was served in a large white bowl. At first, we were told that it is only good for two servings, so we ordered three. But when it was served, oh my! it would satisfy at least four stomachs! so we had to cancel the third one.

If you'll just be ordering this, you can have it for two persons. But if partnered with their rice meals, you can definitely share a bowl with your three buddies.

MIXX Vigans Best famous BULALO

The Menu

The Chandelier effect. The place is not that huge, but interiors looks nice.

With satisfied tummies, we went on and look for some good desserts :)

Our Second stop, SANCHO Churreria Manila

Googled the meaning of the word "SANCHO", well it's a Spanish word that could either mean "the other man" or "holy"---quite contrasting tho.

The store may bear a Spanish name but the interiors just looks like a usual food hub.

I drooled over the yummy cakes at the counter!

The Sancho Menu.

They've got everything: from appetizers down to dessert. Moreover, the food items here are really Spanish.

This place is also popular because of their just-so-right churros paired with Spanish chocolate dip.

So we put the churros into a taste test...

And it was like you're travelling back in time... So relaxing :)

Such a perfect combo :)

I love the taste of the churros because it's not so oily plus the chocolate dip is not that sweet, so there's no "umay" factor while eating.

I also ordered a slice of my favorite cake, Brazo de Mercedes

A sinful slice of heaven :)

It's already pass 12 noon and we're quite full. But we still decided to look for that one-last-food-stop.

And since it's afternoon, the sun is so hot! This is the downside of food tripping during the day, you'll really sweat under your shirt -_- Unless you bring your car with you, that'll be more convenient.

Our last stop for this day, GAYUMA NI MARIA

The name of this store is really intriguing. What should I expect? brewing potions and voodoo  dolls?! :)

This place is one of my goals in this trip. A lot of TV shows already featured this resto and had great reviews with food bloggers.

I'm interested to try their love potions, naughty nook and aphrodisiac meals :)

The interiors are quite laid-back...

...but very artistic :)

Unfortunately, the place is under renovation, so the things that I'm expecting to see wasn't there at all. Sad. *sigh*

However, my nerves perked up with their naughty menu!

I'm very impressed with their menu! I just hope they'll have their menu cards laminated, to make it more presentable.

We all hated the word kabit, but who can resist an extra rice?!

We just ordered a few meals: Come fly with me (Buffalo chicken wings) and Tuliro (Nachos with greens).

Looks delicious :) The buffalo chicken wings is served with a nice creamy dip.

And tried their Seduction drinks: Baha sa Pag-ibig (rum with mint leaves) and Mango fruit shake

This cocktail is quite strong! Perfect for your heart-broken buddies, so invite them here!

There's nothing special about this mango shake, just refreshing :)

We're quite sleepy at this point -_-

By the way, the Nachos salad tastes great! But the buffalo chicken wings is just a bit sour.

We are so tired of eating ^_^

Two thumbs up for Gayuma ni Maria! :)

And we're DONE!

The food shops I've featured are just some of the good places that you can enjoy at Maginhawa St. You'll definitely won't ran out of choices!

MORE stores to visit and try at the famous EAT STREET!

A perfect place for bookworms.

COCINA JUAN. I think they serve spicy foods ^_^

THE BURGER PROJECT. Create your own burger inside this food hub.

BOWL & BREW offer rice meals in a bowl topped with your choice of viand.

CAFE QUEZON caters coffee, cakes and pastries.

GALLI VILLAGE CAFE is famous for their Paella Valenciana, while ANTITEASIS is a homey cafe with a library.

KAZAM offers quick Persian foods, like Kebab and Shawarma.

ABDUL THE COOL is really a cool place to enjoy Mediterranean foods.

MEAL POINT serves burgers and nachos.

MANDI offers Persian grilled foods.

MARCIANA'S boasts their famous Palabok supreme and Puto pandan.

ROUND ROBIN CAFE caters a number of yummy dishes, like pastas, sandwiches, entrees and desserts.

If you're looking for a sumptuous breakfast or delicious pastries, you can drop by at any of these lovely stores.

THE COFFEE WAY is very popular among students because they offer affordable meals.

ROJO serves healthy boneless chicken paired with pita bread.

FROSTED CAFE is a cupcake store which sells fancy cupcakes, while BILLIEBERKS is perfect for those craving for chicken and beer :)

BOBO'S PIZZERIA is a nice place for late night snacking.

CASA QUESADILLAS offers Mexican foods, like chicken quesadillas and beef burrito.

Whew! and that's the end of my ultimate food trip at Maginhawa Street :)

So if you're also planning to visit the stores that I've featured in this blog post, I suggest that you consider the following tips:

  • Invite your friends. Aside from the bonding experience, your pocket will benefit a lot from your friends---because you can share the bill with them.
  • Plan your food trip. It's good to know essential details, like the stores you want to visit and the amount you are willing to spend.
  • Prepare for unexpected happenings. As for my trip, I didn't expect that we'll go overnight. So for moments like this, you should be ready in terms of cash and other personal stuff.
  • Don't be afraid to try new things. The Eat Street has a lot of things to offer, make sure that you try something new. Don't eat the usual stuff that you order in your fave resto, try a different flavor and be surprised by it.

'til my next gastronomic experience! :)

Your lovely foodie,

--Miss G.
